Lord of the Rings and hobbity things

I did this card for a young friend of mine who is majorly into all things Tolkein, with the intention of entering it into the clarity masculine challenge.

It took me an eternity to get the crossword and hobbity words using the letterbox kit into a format I could fit onto an eight by eight card.  I went over the squares in versamark and clear embossing powder and then I kept the background fairly simple using the big bare branch stamp and dotty wave stencil which I think gave it a mordor-like look.

I am actually blogging this from a very hot and sunny Cyprus - the wonders of technology.

Clarity Challenge

The challenge this month at Clarity is All about the Words and I decided to use the 'Kiss of the Sun for Pardon' as the focus for my card.

I used the birdhouse set for my garden setting and inked up with soothing sunset Big and Juicy for the flowers, butterscotch adirondack for the sky and meadow for the branches.

I've entered every other challenge via email so I need to go and figure out how to link this blog entry. Here's hoping!

Same stamps - different looks

I love using Clarity Stamps and I've done a couple of different card using the same stamps. That's one of the things I love about stamping - you can get such different looks just by changing colours and backgrounds.

The first card

Was decoupaged on the top layers and coloured using copics/pro markers. The main image was matted and layered onto a white card which I stamped randomly with a script stamp and then inked using Adirondack (purple twilight?).  A bit of ribbon, some more layering and job done.

The next card

Stamped the fuchsias and coloured using distress inks onto a background which was made using random inking (butterscotch and red pepper) with some water splodges. The verse was inked in red pepper adirondack ink and clear embossed.

I was pleased with both these cards although I think the second is my favourite.

Craftaholics

Things are looking quite exciting on the crafting front for me socially just now.  I've been going to Pauline Stephen's Perth Clarity workshops and really enjoying learning and crafting in company.  On similar front I've just discovered Meet Up and the Craftaholics Anonymous group and am hoping to go to their next event at the beginning of June - so a lot to look forward.

I'm also trying to get to grips with blogging on my iPad so maybe this old ancient blog of mine may get a wee resurrection.
